Purple Heart Cutting Board Blanks

Purple Heart is an exotic species whose mechanical properties are reported to lie somewhere between those of Greenheart and Oak, having exceptional tolerance for shock loading. Purple Heart is highly desired by hobbyists and craftsmen who use the hard heavy wood in small projects. It is very hard and dense which makes it a good accent for projects like cutting boards or other inlay work. It is a very popular wood among woodturners and polishes well.

Purple Heart is a very recognizable species due to the bright purple coloring, and it grows from Mexico through Southern Brazil. The bright purple color may fade to a darker brownish plum. To prolong the color, this wood should be finished with a UV protectant and avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

If you are picking up locally, you are welcome to get as few or as many as you would like. If, however, you need your lumber shipped, our minimum order for cutting board blanks is 12 pieces. You can get 12 of a kind, or mix and match to get whatever combination you like.
